MODEST HOUSING GAINS POSTED IN JUNE

The residential sales market continued on a steady track with increases in home sales and prices in June, according to the

Home sales rose by 3.9 percent in June as compared to June 2016, while average and median prices grew by 1.8 and 3.2 percent, respectively. Once again, homes sales varied extensively with both with Talbot and Dorchester counties posting increases of 50 percent or more. Conversely, sales in Charles, Kent and Wicomico counties declined by over 10 percent in June 2017 as compared to the year before.
"We remain optimistic about the state of the residential market based on the June data," said President Shelly Murray. Murray added, "While activity has slowed in some areas of the state, the overall picture shows a stable market." Murray went on to note, "Overall, buyers are engaged and as the amount of homes for sale climb, activity will continue to be healthy.
